Fall Classic Final Game Captures Over 50 Million Viewers In the United States, Canada and Japan Regions.

The thrilling extended matchup where the Dodgers overcome the Blue Jays by one run drew a combined 51 million watchers in the United States, Canadian, and Japan markets. Major League Baseball announced this is the highest-rated World Series finale since the 1991 edition showdown featuring the Minnesota Twins and Braves.

Television Viewership Breakdown

The Saturday memorable game averaged 27.33M audience members on Fox channels, Fox Deportes and Fox’s streaming platforms. Per Nielsen, it was the second highest-rated broadcast of the previous week.

It also is the most-watched Fall Classic game since the 2017 edition Game 7 between the Los Angeles Dodgers and Astros, which averaged over 29 million. This represents a 16% increase over the last Game 7 between the Nationals and Astros, which attracted 23.19M.

In the weekly rankings, Game 6 ranked fourth, the fourth game ranked seventh, the fifth game came in eighth, and Game 3 finished in 13th position.

Global Viewership Figures

In the Canadian market, the game averaged over 11 million watchers on Sportsnet and the French-language TVA Sports channel. This was the most-watched English-language broadcast in the country after the 2010 edition Winter Olympics.

In Japan, where the deciding contest began at 9 p.m. local time, it attracted 12 million. This followed last Friday’s sixth game – in which Fall Classic Most Valuable Player Yamamoto allowed one run in six frames – drew 13.1M viewers, making it the highest-rated Fall Classic game on a single network in the country.

Series Totals and Patterns

The full seven-game World Series averaged over 15.7 million audience members on the Fox network, a two percent rise from last year’s Dodgers versus Yankees matchup. This marks the first time since 2015 and 2016 that the World Series has recorded viewership growth for two straight seasons.

Counting the opening game broadcast on Univision, the complete US viewership was 16.1M. The overall World Series viewership in Japan was 9.7M and 8.1M in Canada.

The full playoffs on Fox and its sister channels averaged 8.09 million watchers, an 8% rise compared to the previous year and Fox’s strongest postseason ratings since the 2017 season.

Major League Baseball announced that the World Series was televised in 203 countries and territories by 44 media partners in sixteen various tongues.
